A general order is the status given to shipping items when they are stuck at
customs. The reason can be improper documentation, or the cargo is not quickly
cleared by customs.
If these goods are still stuck at customs after 15 days, they will be moved to a
general order warehouse whereby the storage and transportation costs are the
responsibility of the importer.
If these goods remain under general order for more than 6 months, they will be
either auctioned or confiscated by US Customs.
